INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
Phoenix dactylifera, commonly known as the date palm, has been cultivated for thousands of years and is known for its nutritional and medicinal properties. The fruit of this palm is rich in essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants (Haddad et al., 2019). In traditional medicine, P. dactylifera has been utilized for various health conditions, including reproductive disorders. Recent studies have highlighted its potential effects on reproductive health, particularly in male mammals, suggesting that date palm fruit may influence reproductive organ health and hormonal profiles (Ibrahim et al., 2020).
The reproductive system of male Wistar rats serves as a valuable model for studying human reproductive health due to the physiological similarities between these animals and humans. Research has indicated that certain dietary components can significantly affect male reproductive functions, including sperm production, hormone levels, and the overall health of reproductive organs (Mohammed et al., 2021). The consumption of natural products like P. dactylifera could thus play a role in enhancing or impairing these functions.
