JAMB: Requirements and how to register for  UTME

Just like every other year since 1978, more than a million Nigerians are registering and gearing up to write this year Unified TertiaryMatriculation Examination (UTME), organised by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

If you’re set to go on that same road, this post is for you. We’ll look at every necessary detail you need to know before and during your UTME registration.

When Does JAMB UTME Registration Start?

Registration for the UTME began on Monday, 3rd February and is set to conclude on Saturday, 8th March. If you haven’t registered yet, it’s advisable to register early to avoid last-minute issues.

 

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for the year Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates. Registration begins on February 3, will end on March 8, .

Here are the requirements for the JAMB examination:

1.    Personal Data

Here you will have to enter your personal information

National Identification Number (NIN)
JAMB requires all candidates to provide their NIN for registration. If you don’t have one, visit any National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment centre to register.

2. Valid email address
You need a functional email address to create a JAMB profile. This email will be used for all communications regarding your examination.

3. Phone number
A unique phone number is required for registration. This number will be linked to your JAMB profile.

Please ensure that the phone number you’ll be using belongs to someone very close to you (father or mother, if you’re below 18 years) to make retrieval easier in case of damage or loss of the SIM card. The card is your unique identifier with the Board and must not get lost at any point in time. Peradventure that happens, you should retrieve it as soon as possible because it cannot be replaced thereafter.

4. JAMB profile code
After creating your JAMB profile, you will receive a 10-digit profile code via SMS. Keep this code safe as it is required for registration.

5. Biometric verification
You must visit an accredited JAMB registration centre for biometric capture. This step is mandatory and cannot be done online.

6. O’Level results
Have your O’Level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or equivalent) ready. You will input the details during registration.

7. Passport photograph
A recent passport photograph with a white background is required. It will be uploaded during registration.

8. Registration fee
Pay the required registration fee at any approved bank or online payment platform. The fee is usually announced by JAMB.

Here you will have to enter your prefer institution, simply enter National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN

Enter your SSCE subjects eg Maths, English

How to register for the  JAMB examination

1. Create a JAMB profile
Send your NIN to 55019 or 66019 in the format: NIN [11-digit NIN number]. For example, NIN 12345678901.
You will receive a 10-digit profile code and your registered email address.

2. Purchase the JAMB e-PIN
Visit any approved bank, online platform, or JAMB office to purchase the e-PIN. You will need your profile code to complete this step.

3. Visit an accredited JAMB registration centre
Go to any JAMB-accredited CBT centre with your e-PIN, NIN, and other required documents.
The officials will assist you in completing the registration and capturing your biometric data.

4. Complete the registration form
Provide your personal details, O’Level results, choice of institutions, and course of study. Ensure all information is accurate before submitting.

5. Print your registration slip
After completing the registration, print your slip.
